This photograph captures recently-shed autumn leaves along North Creek during the first week of November. Arguably the best time of year to visit the canyonlands of Zion, the blazing days of summer are gone and the cottonwoods and maples growing along the canyon bottoms are ablaze in colors. Due to their low elevation, the canyons of Zion National Park are some of the last areas in the state of Utah to see the foliage change and provide some of the most spectacular colors due to luxuriant growth of cottonwoods and maples along the well-watered canyon bottoms.
