Located in the depths of Grand Canyon National Park, Deer Creek plunges into the Colorado River in a series of beautiful waterfalls as it slices through a 200-foot thick layer of Tapeats sandstone. A couple hundred feet downstream from this small waterfall, it plummets almost 100 feet just before mixing with the waters of the Colorado River. Deer Creek originates several miles up-canyon where it bursts from the side of a high cliff with its full volume of cold-clear water. A rugged trail descends one vertical mile into these depths from Monument Point on the North Rim.
