With its headwaters over 40 miles away in the Pink Cliffs of Bryce Canyon National Park, Buckskin Gulch is located in the heart of the Paria Canyon Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness of Utah. In the lower reaches of Buckskin Gulch, Navajo sandstone walls rise to nearly 400 feet and protect a well-watered micro-climate along the bottom of the canyon in stark contrast to the harsh and windswept landscape of the canyon rims. Buckskin Gulch is a major tributary of Paria Canyon which eventually drains into the Colorado River 13 miles downstream from Glen Canyon Dam at the head of Marble Canyon.
